Nazeh Darwazeh demonstreerde op 8 april in Nablus, na de dood van een collega-cameraman in Baghdad.

A Palestinian cameraman was killed by Israeli gunfire as he filmed clashes in the central Casbah district of this northern West Bank city, Palestinian medics said. Nazeh Darwazeh (43), a journalist for Associated Press Television News, was killed by a live bullet, the medics said. He and other cameramen, still photographers and reporters had been at the bottom of the alley and were wearing brightly colored vests that said "Press." It was unclear whether there was anyone behind Darwazeh at whom the soldiers might have been aiming when he was shot.

His death followed clashes between Israeli troops and Palestinian stonethrowers in which five Palestinians were lightly injured by rubber bullets. Darwazi was the third journalist killed since the start of the Palestinian uprising in September 2000.

Last July, Imad Zahran (35), a stringer for a Palestinian daily, was killed by Israeli fire in the northern West Bank town of Jenin. In March 2002, Italian photographer Raffaele Ciriello was killed by Israeli fire in Ramallah.
